Santa Ana Airport Drag Strip Reunion - Saturday, May 7, 2011

The Main Street Malt Shop and Santa Ana Airport Drag Strip Reunion is set for Saturday, May 7, 2011 in Santiago Park.  The event will start at 10 AM and end around 3 PM.  The park is located on the border of Santa Ana and the City of Orange.  Directions: From Main Street, go east on East Memory Lane for two street lights, or about 1000 feet.  At the second light turn to your right and go down into the paved parking lot at the bottom of the creek.  The reunion is next to the parking lot in plain sight.  The reunion and parking are free.  This reunion celebrates the early drag racers and hot rodders who raced at the Santa Ana Airport drag strip in the 1950's.  These are the first drag racers anywhere and we are losing more of them every year.  This may be one of your last chances to see the men and women who helped to create this sport.  Photographs and scrapbooks will be available to look at.  Leslie Long will be in charge.  I hope you will put this event on your calendar and bring your cameras and tape recorders.  Richard Parks, editor of the SLSRH
